What is iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation?
It is a simple, deep and powerful meditative practice coming from the ancient technique called Yoga Nidra (or “the sleep of the Yogi”, a practice that promotes a profound relaxation and releases of deep tensions). It has been re named and re formulated in a more secular perspective by Richard Miller Phd, psychologist and yoga teacher. Its name is the abbreviation of Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra.
Integrative: through its principle of meeting and welcoming what arises just as it is, the practice helps physical, emotional, mental and spiritual integration and it facilitates the healing of the different unresolved issues and trauma that are present in the body and mind.
– the practice activates a sense of restoration as it enables one to recognise the innate peace of mind and ease of Being that is always present amidst all changing situations and circumstances in life.
– It restores our senses to their natural functioning,
– gives rise to spontaneous disidentification from afflictive physical, emotional, cognitive and imaginal conditioning

The adaptation has been made in order to make the practice available to everyone no matter culture, background, health issues and trauma sensitivity.
In fact, Richard Miller developed and promoted this ten step protocol practice in the last 30 years, following accurate researches, as a program for healing PTSD.
